Next Step Employment

At The Next Step Programs, employment isn’t just a service… it’s our legacy. Since 2023, Next Step Employment has been at the heart of what we do, helping young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) find meaningful, integrated employment in their communities. We’ve supported individuals in preparing for, securing, and thriving in the workforce, because we believe that everyone deserves a chance to work with purpose and pride.

    • Career Exploration & Job Development
We help participants identify their strengths, interests, and employment goals, then work closely with local businesses to find inclusive job matches.

    • Job Coaching & On-the-Job Support
Our trained employment specialists provide individualized coaching, on-site training, and communication support to ensure long-term success.

    • Workplace Readiness Training
Participants develop soft skills, time management, professionalism, and self-advocacy through interactive workshops and hands-on experiences.

    • Transition Planning & School-to-Work Services
For students and recent graduates, we provide structured transition support that bridges the gap between school and the workforce.

    • Employer Partnerships & Education
We collaborate with businesses to foster inclusive hiring practices, offer disability awareness training, and ensure employers are equipped to support diverse teams.

What is Supported Employment?

Supported Employment is a service available through Pennsylvania’s Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) waiver system. It is designed to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) find and maintain competitive, integrated employment in their communities.

At The Next Step Programs, we proudly deliver Supported Employment services through the Consolidated, Community Living, and Person/Family Directed Support (P/FDS) waivers. These services are fully funded for individuals who are waiver-enrolled and eligible for employment support.
